A Letter from Michael Moore to George W. Bush on the Eve of War

George W. Bush
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, DC

Dear Governor Bush:

So today is what you call "the moment of truth," the day that "France and the rest of world have to show their cards on the table." I'm glad to hear that this day has finally arrived. Because, I gotta tell ya, having survived 440 days of your lying and conniving, I wasn't sure if I could take much more. So I'm glad to hear that today is Truth Day, 'cause I got a few truths I would like to share with you:

1. There is virtually NO ONE in America (talk radio nutters and Fox News aside) who is gung-ho to go to war. Trust me on this one. Walk out of the White House and on to any street in America and try to find five people who are PASSIONATE about wanting to kill Iraqis. YOU WON'T FIND THEM! Why? 'Cause NO Iraqis have ever come here and killed any of us! No Iraqi has even threatened to do that. You see, this is how we average Americans think: If a certain so-and-so is not perceived as a threat to our lives, then, believe it or not, we don't want to kill him! Funny how that works!

2. The majority of Americans -- the ones who never elected you -- are not fooled by your weapons of mass distraction. We know what the real issues are that affect our daily lives -- and none of them begin with I or end in Q. Here's what threatens us: two and a half million jobs lost since you took office, the stock market having become a cruel joke, no one knowing if their retirement funds are going to be there, gas now costs almost two dollars -- the list goes on and on. Bombing Iraq will not make any of this go away. Only you need to go away for things to improve.

3. As Bill Maher said last week, how bad do you have to suck to lose a popularity contest with Saddam Hussein? The whole world is against you, Mr. Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them.

4. The Pope has said this war is wrong, that it is a SIN. The Pope! But even worse, the Dixie Chicks have now come out against you! How bad does it have to get before you realize that you are an army of one on this war? Of course, this is a war you personally won't have to fight. Just like when you went AWOL while the poor were shipped to Vietnam in your place.

5. Of the 535 members of Congress, only ONE (Sen. Johnson of South Dakota) has an enlisted son or daughter in the armed forces! If you really want to stand up for America, please send your twin daughters over to Kuwait right now and let them don their chemical warfare suits. And let's see every member of Congress with a child of military age also sacrifice their kids for this war effort. What's that you say? You don't THINK so? Well, hey, guess what -- we don't think so either!

6. Finally, we love France. Yes, they have pulled some royal screw-ups. Yes, some of them can be pretty damn annoying. But have you forgotten we wouldn't even have this country known as America if it weren't for the French? That it was their help in the Revolutionary War that won it for us? That our greatest thinkers and founding fathers -- Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc. -- spent many years in Paris where they refined the concepts that lead to our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution? That it was France who gave us our Statue of Liberty, a Frenchman who built the Chevrolet, and a pair of French brothers who invented the movies? And now they are doing what only a good friend can do -- tell you the truth about yourself, straight, no b.s. Quit pissing on the French and thank them for getting it right for once. You know, you really should have traveled more (like once) before you took over. Your ignorance of the world has not only made you look stupid, it has painted you into a corner you can't get out of.

Well, cheer up -- there IS good news. If you do go through with this war, more than likely it will be over soon because I'm guessing there aren't a lot of Iraqis willing to lay down their lives to protect Saddam Hussein. After you "win" the war, you will enjoy a huge bump in the popularity polls as everyone loves a winner -- and who doesn't like to see a good ass-whoopin' every now and then (especially when it 's some third world ass!). So try your best to ride this victory all the way to next year's election. Of course, that's still a long ways away, so we'll all get to have a good hardy-har-har while we watch the economy sink even further down the toilet!

But, hey, who knows -- maybe you'll find Osama a few days before the election! See, start thinking like THAT! Keep hope alive! Kill Iraqis -- they got our oil!!

Yours,

Michael Moore

From the Japanese Daily Yomiyuri, reprinting the British Independent, 23/02/03 p11.

Inerview with Bush. Not even flagged as weird

Of the six million anti-war demonstrators last weekend: "'Democracy is a beautiful thing, and people are allowed to express their opinion', Mr Bush joked."

(allowed? - big of you, but this is a joke?)

He was not to be swayed by the size of the protests, however, "The role of a leader is to decide policy based upon the security, in this case the security of the people

(as opposed to the security of their ****ing Land Cruisers?)

Of Saddam, "He is a fellow that likes to buy time, and buy it through deception and delay"

- likes to buy time through delay? You need to ask yourself, don't you George, whether you have the mental resources to deal with such a slick operator.

Unbelievable. The fate of millions rests in his hands. Even given all the nepotism in the world, how is it possible for such a complete ****wit to become the most powerful man on the planet?

• Iraqi foreign minister says Saddam won't leave, suggests Bush leave office instead.

he's got a point.....

Go to todays NY Times, there are a couple of great op-ed pieces. One point made is the 7 dwarfs duplicity in the announcement of nuclear materials being present. This was proven to be a fraud. And that the supposed link between OBL & Saddam is discounted totally by our own intelligence people. The big problem being that none of this is put forth by the "main strem" media, and most Americans are unaware of Bush`s tactics. May God help us all, Iraqis included.

If Bush were able to present credible evidence to our allies, even in secret, I don't think the rest of the world would be so opposed to this. But stories of our own CIA being asked (and refusing) to cook evidence for this war are pretty amazing and pretty typical of this campaign.

The real problem, beyond dead Iraqi civilians, poisoned and dead American soldiers, blown-up oilfields and their concomitant environmental destruction, and a whole new army of Muslim fanatics bred by this invasion, is the long-term damage to our foreign relations.

Bush the fundamentalist apparently believes he is set to fight armageddon. What he doesn't know is that throughout history the naive zealots get used by the sharks around them, in this case the neocons and Israeli faction, who are playing power politics and 'capture the oil', not god.

He's thinks he's taking orders from the lord; they know he's reading from a musty, irrelevant piece of fiction (book of Revelation) and they're happy as clams about it. He will never be anything but what he already is; a brain-damaged, ultimately bamboozled puppet in this historical power play.

Of course, the ultimate irony is in the history, as this is sort of a replay of an old British imperial quagmire. But I'd give the Brits more credit, I don't think they were being led by a religious fanatic of questionable mentual acuity like we are. You can read about their adventures here:

This is the problem the mainstream media are in Bush's pocket so they don't mention these items. Also most pro war people don't read and the ones that do don't comprehend what they just read.
According to a recent US government report, The State of Literacy in America, released by the National Institute for Literacy (NIL), there has been a significant growth in illiteracy in America. Over 90 million US adults, nearly one out of two, are functionally illiterate or near illiterate, without the minimum skills required in a modern society.

The report is a devastating portrait of the social conditions in capitalist America, the country generally portrayed as the most advanced in the world. Out of 191 million adults in the US, as many as 44 million cannot read a newspaper or fill out a job application. Another 50 million more cannot read or comprehend above the eighth grade level.

According to education experts it requires ninth grade competence to understand the instructions for an antidote on a bottle of corrosive kitchen lye, tenth grade competence to understand the instructions on a federal income tax return, and twelfth grade competence to read a life insurance form.

Yes Grantt, but fortunately for Rx readers, it only requires nursery-school level comprehension to read and understand this forum

Skyweasel -- some good articles on that site.

"And so Americans see Saddam Hussein, the quack from Iraq, as a menace to its "homeland," no matter that America spends 26 times more on their military than the next closest competitor.

Illusions will persist until the people are forced to recognize their own ignorance."

Grant, Why didn't Clinton do anything about illiteracy during his 8 years?

The problem is goverment (public) schools to begin with. Conservatives want vouchers for people to go to private school if they want to but the democratic socialist and teachers unions can't stand competition.
Also we spend more on public education than any country in the world, but kids can't find Florida on the map...somthing not working that more money won't help.
The democrats are for pro choice with everything except education!

Out - don't insult dog shit. It could serve a useful purpose as fertilizer. Michael Moore serves no such purpose.

Michael Moore is an asshole in and of himself, not for sending the letter.

"There is virtually NO ONE in America (talk radio nutters and Fox News aside) who is gung-ho to go to war. Trust me on this one. Walk out of the White House and on to any street in America and try to find five people who are PASSIONATE about wanting to kill Iraqis. YOU WON'T FIND THEM!"

It is a FACT, people, that current Gallup and ABC polls show around 66% of the U.S. supports taking action against Saddam. 'Trust me on this one'??? Is he serious???

I'll go further about Michael Moore - his letter reminds me something a 15 year old would write - yet another example of a movie personality deciding he has some 'grip'. The only reason to send that letter was for him to gratify his ego and be able to tell people, look what I did! I'm sure we can all anticipate a documentary within the year where he spews more of his bullshit about this by trying to interview Bush. Note that this bastard has never tried to do a real documentary about real evil, like for example interviewing the Kurds about the chemical attacks in 1988-89 and hanging around Baghdad to interview Hussein about the atrocities - the reason is because he's full of shit.

Here's a little info to show you that Moore has and has had a major agenda against Bush even before now - so he's just another Bush-basher, big ****ing deal ...

=============================================

LONDON — Stupid White Men, Michael Moore's irreverent diatribe against President Bush and the conservative movement, was named Book of the Year at the British Book Awards.

The British Book Awards are nominated and judged by a panel of 400 publishers, wholesalers and booksellers, together with a telephone vote from the public. The awards, announced Monday night, usually reflect popular public taste rather than the views of the critics.

Organizer Merric Davidson said that Moore's triumph was boosted by a strong telephone vote, particularly a "very strong anti-war vote both from insiders in the book business and the public."

Publication of Stupid White Men, which calls for Bush to be kicked out of office, was almost blocked by Moore's publisher, HarperCollins, because it expressed unpatriotic sentiments following the Sept. 11 attacks.

They changed their minds after a protest campaign by U.S. librarians and it went on to become a best seller on both sides of the Atlantic, selling over 300,000 copies in Britain so far.

Brits Bristling at Michael Moore's One-Man Act

Wednesday, January 08, 2003

By Catherine Donaldson-Evans

NEW YORK — Filmmaker and cultural commentator Michael Moore has been accused of mocking Sept. 11 victims and acting up during his one-man show in London, according to press reports.

A columnist for the London newspaper The Independent expressed outrage at one of the Michael Moore – Live! shows, when the Bowling for Columbine creator criticized passengers on the jets hijacked on Sept. 11.

"Moore went into a rant about how the passengers were scaredy-cats because they were mostly white," Yasmin Alibhai-Brown wrote in the Jan. 6 Independent. "If the passengers had included black men, he claimed, those killers, with their puny bodies and unimpressive small knives, would have been crushed by the dudes."

"God save us from such stupid white men," the columnist fumed, referring to Moore's best-selling book Stupid White Men. He added that Moore was promoting the very violence in the black community that is tearing it apart.

In addition, a Jan. 7 report on the Independent Movie Database said Moore lashed out at the staff of The Roundhouse theater in North London – which was hosting his one-man show – causing a huge blowup with theater officials.

"He reportedly flew into a rage, verbally attacked everyone associated with the theater because he thought he wasn't being paid enough," the IMDB.com piece reported.

Moore apparently complained that he was only earning $750 a night for the show, which drew a packed house during the two months leading up to Christmas.

IMDB quoted an unidentified crewmember who said, "'He completely lost the plot. He stormed around all day screaming at everyone, telling them how we were all con men and useless. Then he went on stage and did it in public.'"

In reaction to his outburst, Roundhouse staff reportedly fought back by refusing to work the next night, causing Moore's act to be delayed by an hour, according to IMDB.

"Eventually he made a groveling apology to staff and the angry audience finally took their seats," the Web site said. "A source reports that Moore then packed his bags and flew to New York the next day without saying thank you or goodbye to anyone."

Floyd - Grantt is obviously against capitalism. With that background, it is no surprise he continues to rant and rave against the United States.

Grantt - tough shit.
